Start your day in Calistoga where you'll be fitted with your Marin Hybrid BIke and receive a quick briefing before you hit the road for a leisurely cycle down picturesque country lanes, learning fascinating wine facts along the way.
Soak up amazing views and discover some of the area's celebrated highlights on a guided wine tour that includes behind the scenes access, barrel tastings and beautiful art and food pairings at a hand-picked selection of local wineries. You'll also savor a delicious Wine Country picnic lunch among the vines and a chance to enjoy, Charbono, the world's rarest grape varietal at one of only 16 wineries globally to produce it. Round off your day with a some delicious tastings against the backdrop of the majestic Palisades Mountains.
This incredible half day adventure includes hybrid bike and helmet rental, unlimited water, Wine Country picnic lunch, and professional local guides. Tours take place on flat, easy roads and trails, avoiding traffic where possible. Tasting fees are not included. Wineries visited on each tour may change on a seasonal basis, however usually included are: Chateau Montelena, Cuvaison, Bennett Lane , Envy, Summers, Lava Vine, August Briggs, Frank Family, Twomey, and Clos Pegase, among others.
Tours take place daily from 10:00 am to 3:30pm
You’ll meet at 10am in downtown Calistoga for a bike fitting and quick safety talk, before hitting the road about 15 minutes later. Cycle down picturesque country lines as your guide shares wine facts and interesting anecdotes about the history of the area as well giving you an understanding of the process of making wine.
Your tour takes place along very quiet lanes, bike paths, and the famous Silverado Trail where you’ll visit small, family-owned wineries. You’ll have the opportunity to try some unique wines including Charbono, at one of only 16 wineries in the world still producing this varietal. You’ll also see a giant thumb sculpture (among others) and even pet a friendly goat in a laid back tasting room. You may even catch an eruption by Old Faithful Geyser, one of three regularly erupting geysers in the world. The bike ride is easy and flat, which allows you to enjoy the beautiful Napa Valley vineyard views.
At lunch time, you’ll enjoy a Wine Country picnic lunch at one of the scenic winery stops. Dine al fresco among the vines before enjoying a game of bocce ball (optional). After lunch you’ll visit one or two more wineries before heading back to Calistoga at around 3:30pm.
