Imagine hovering above the ground at speed with complete control over any terrain. Segways are a marvel of technology and provide a unique experience that will leave you grinning from ear to ear. In fact, until you've tried a Segway, you won’t understand how amazing it really is. You'll be astounded at the way the Segway balances itself perfectly to keep you upright and in complete control.
Your experience will start with a full instruction and safety briefing, that will showcase how to stop, start and set your machine in motion. Then it's time to set off on your voyage of discovery around the 'City by the Bay'. Glide along Fisherman's Wharf and enjoy fabulous views of the Golden Gate Bridge while learning new facts and stories about the city. See Ghiradelli Square, Hyde Street Pier, the Aquatic Park, Transamerica Pyramid and much, much more.
Have fun, meet new people and discover the unique thrill of riding on a Segway. But be warned – these machines are seriously addictive!
The Segway Human Transporter is the first of its kind. It is a self-balancing, personal transportation device designed to go anywhere people do. Easy to use and operate, the two-wheeled Segway sports high-tech gyroscopes that automatically respond to your body’s movements, “sensing” when it should speed up and slow down. You stand on a small platform between left and right wheels as you hold onto handlebars at a comfortable waist height. The Segway handles the balancing for you, so that you’re always upright as you glide through any environment.
This experience is not suitable for pregnant women or anyone weighing more than 260lb
Tours run throughout the year as follows:
- Jan 1 to Mar 31: Daily at 10am
- Apr 1 to Nov 30: Daily at 10am, 2pm and 6pm
- Dec 1 to Dec 31: Daily at 10am
Itinerary
- Meet at Segway Headquarters
- Safety briefing and video
- Helmets fitted and introduction to the Segways
- 30 minute orientation session on a paved area.
- Learn stopping, starting and how to safely dismount
- Fun and entertaining 3 hour guided tour, packed with interesting anecdotes and facts
- Return to base camp
