LOCATION: White Sulphur Springs, WV
Enjoy an interactive and informative class designed to provide the perfect introduction to the ancient sport of falconry. Find out about different types of birds, including eagles, owls, hawks, and falcons, and gain a new appreciation for the extraordinary abilities of these amazing birds of prey.
After an introductory briefing session, you'll watch as hawks are flown free in the surrounding countryside. Watch in amazement as hawks are flown to the fist several times while the steps of training a bird for falconry are discussed.
During the experience, you'll have the opportunity to see how trained Harris Hawks would actually hunt using a artificial lure and also hold a trained Saker Falcon.
In the falconry beginner’s lesson, you have an opportunity to interact with a variety of captive-bred, trained birds of prey. At the flying grounds, you can watch as hawks fly free and get an up-close look at several endangered species, including several hawks, falcons and owls. You will also enjoy the engaging discussion on the history of falconry.
